Bawku Peace Talks Postponed, Manhyia Palace Set to Announce New Date
The much-anticipated peace talks aimed at resolving the protracted conflict in Bawku have been postponed, sources at the Manhyia Palace have revealed.
The peace talks, which were to be mediated under the auspices of the Manhyia Palace, were initially scheduled to take place this week on Monday, April 28.
The postponement, though not officially explained, is due to logistical and scheduling challenges involving key stakeholders. Traditional leaders, political figures, and representatives from the Bawku chieftaincy factions were all expected to participate.
The Manhyia Palace, led by the Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, who was set to play a central role in the mediation process, is expected to announce a new date for the talks soon.
The mediation was originally set to run from April 28 to May 1 at the Manhyia Palace.
The Palace has reiterated its commitment to fostering lasting peace in the Bawku area and is urging all parties to remain calm and committed to dialogue.
Residents of Bawku and observers nationwide have expressed hope that the talks, when held, will lead to meaningful progress toward peace and reconciliation in the area.
