Two suspects arrested, one on the run for stealing iron rods from Agenda 111 site

Two suspects have been arrested by the Kasoa Ofaakor Jei River Police for allegedly stealing iron rods from the Agenda 111 construction site at Kasoa Ofaakor in the Awutu Senya East Municipality of the Central Region. A third suspect is currently on the run.

Agenda 111 is a flagship government initiative aimed at improving healthcare infrastructure across the country.

Police recovered 31 pieces of 18mm iron rods hidden in a tricycle, popularly known as Aboboyaa.

Upon interrogation, the suspects admitted that this was their second time stealing from the site.

Eyewitnesses reported that the three suspects arrived at the scene in the tricycle and were intercepted by security officers stationed at Odupong Ofaakor Senior High School.

One of the security officers, Emmanuel Sakyi, said they grew suspicious of the suspects, and upon questioning, the suspects confessed to stealing the rods from the Agenda 111 site.

Sakyi’s vigilance and timely intervention helped the police apprehend two of the suspects.

The third suspect managed to escape, and police say efforts are ongoing to arrest him.

The two arrested suspects are currently in police custody and assisting with investigations.

Meanwhile, the Municipal Chief Executive for Awutu Senya East, Seth Banini, visited both the police station and the construction site.

He strongly condemned the theft and urged the youth in Kasoa to refrain from acts that tarnish the community’s image.

Mr. Banini also emphasized the importance of peace and security, reiterating his commitment to creating job opportunities for the youth.

He encouraged them to channel their energy into productive ventures that would benefit both themselves and the municipality.
