67-year-old cement seller allegedly commits suicide over missing cement bags.

Tragic Incident: A 67-year-old cement seller identified as Fredrick Adama, alias Fo Yao, has been discovered dead in his bedroom under mysterious circumstances.

The incident happened at Ho Barracks Newtown near Kpenoe in the Volta region.

His lifeless body was discovered after friends broke into his room when repeated calls to his phone went unanswered, something they said was very unlike him despite his old age.

According to nformation gathered by this reporter indicates he was the one in charge of Chapel Square Cement Depot at Ho Barracks, Newtown.

An eyewitness and a co-tenant said he was last seen this Monday morning around 7am, and upon asking him why he closed the shop, Adama said he was expecting some cement to come before he opened the shop for sales.

Due to his relationship with his customers and how close his house is to the cement shop, it is common for people to go to his house anytime the shop is not open just to call on him to buy cement, but unfortunately, this morning he was nowhere to be found from 8am to 9am.

Their growing concern led them to involve some family members. Upon the arrival of Madam Margaret Adama, a cousin, the deceased was found lifeless and unresponsive in his bedroom.

Preliminary police investigations revealed the deceased had hanged himself to death.

A family member, Mr. Richard Adama, who disclosed to Class News, said, about a week ago, the owner of the Chapel Square cement depot invited him to help question the deceased over some missing 50 bags of cement, which the deceased has denied.

“About two weeks ago, the owner of the shop called me to help him question my brother over an alleged missing 50 bags of cement. I questioned my brother, but he denied the allegation against him.

“And again, just last week, the man called me again over another missing 14 bags of cement, and this time the man said my brother must provide the cement or else he will sack him. I pleaded with him to give me time to question him, but the issue ended up unresolved.

So the man said he has started building a single self-contained apartment for him to accommodate him, but if the missing cement cannot be traced, then he will be forced to either sack him or allow him to use the money to finish the build, which is currently at the roofing level". He disclosed.

Meanwhile, all these issues were not resolved before Mr. Fredrick Adama, alias Fo Yao, decided to end his life today by hanging himself to commit suicide.

It is unclear if the allegations led him to commit suicide to end it all.

The body has been transported to the Ho teaching hospital mortuary for further examination as investigations continue.

The incident has left the community in shock, with many awaiting answers about what led to the untimely demise.

The late Fredrick Adama left behind an 11-year-old daughter.
