Two suspects arrested for allegedly stealing an immigration officer’s pistol and ammunition at Walewale in the Northeast Region.
Two young men were arrested by police for allegedly stealing an immigration officer’s pistol and ammunition.
The two suspects were identified as Mohammed Basit, age 18, and Baba Raisin, age 22
According to the police statement, the suspects entered the officer’s room around 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 17, 2025, while he was away, and took his firearm and ammunition.
The items stolen by the two suspects included a Smith & Wesson pistol loaded with ten rounds of ammunition, along with two CZ rifle magazines, each loaded with 30 rounds.
In a letter signed by Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Robert Anabik Anmain of the North East Regional Police Public Relations Unit, it was highlighted that the suspects were arrested through intelligence-led operations in Kperiga, a suburb of Walewale.
The stolen weapon and ammunition were also discovered hidden in a stationary vehicle.
Currently the two suspects are in custody and are expected to be put before the court.
