The National Identification Authority (NIA) has announced plans to begin payment of 20% arrears owed to its staff, dating back to January 2025.
Speaking at a press briefing on Wednesday, June 18, the Head of Corporate Affairs at the NIA, Williams Ampomah Emmanuel Darlas, explained that the payment provision was captured in the Authority’s 2025 budget, adding that the proposal has received formal approval from the Fair Wages and Salaries Commission and the Ministry of Finance.
He assured staff that the necessary administrative processes are currently underway to ensure swift disbursement of the funds.
“Yesterday, the Finance Ministry, led by Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson, acknowledged receipt of the letter and promised that he will fast-track all that needs to be done and forward it to the Controller and Accountant General so that staff can benefit from their 20% arrears since January. I want to assure the staff of the National Identification Authority that their 20% will be paid,” he stated.
