University of Ghana confirmed new suspected COVID-19 cases.
The University of Ghana Health Services Directorate has issued a health alert to the university community following a resurgence in COVID-19 cases on and around campus.
In a statement released on June 23, 2025, the directorate confirmed that several suspected and confirmed COVID-19 cases have been reported within the university’s immediate environment.
The alert urges all students, staff, and visitors to remain vigilant and adhere strictly to safety protocols aimed at minimizing the spread of the virus.
Preventive measures outlined by the Directorate include;
- Wear face masks properly, especially in enclosed or crowded spaces
- Regular handwashing with soap under running water or using alcohol-based sanitizers
- Maintain physical distancing at least one meter from others
- Avoid mass gatherings unless necessary
- Ensure good ventilation in lecture halls, offices, and meeting rooms
- Stay home if experienced flu-like symptoms and seek prompt medical attention
The Health Services Directorate has also reactivated its COVID-19 response protocols.
These include screening, triage measures at health facilities, and close monitoring of the situation. Regular updates will be issued as needed.
“We must work together to protect ourselves and our community,” the statement read.
