Community Police Assistants Training Programme Commences
The Ghana Police Service has commenced the training of YEA Community Police Assistants across the various Police Training Schools in the country.
This training commenced on Wednesday, July 23, 2025, at the various police training schools in Ghana.
This comes after the Ghana Police Service and the Youth Employment Agency (YEA) signed a Memorandum of Understanding in May of this year, which calls for training 12,000 youths to support law enforcement efforts in the country.
Speaking at the ceremony at the National Police Training School at Tesano, the Deputy Minister for the Interior, Hon. Ebener Okletey Terlabi, explained that the programme aims to equip trainees with the skills, knowledge, and values needed to assist the Ghana Police Service in promoting peace, preventing crime, and building trust within communities.
Hon. Okletey Terlabi highlighted that the initiative is not just about training people to enforce the law but about fostering partnership and dialogue. The trainees will be instilled with the values of integrity, discipline, and service, which will guide them throughout their lives. He added,
Director General of Human Resources of the Ghana Police Service, DCOP Frederick Blagodzi, emphasised the importance of the programme in enhancing public safety and fostering a vital link between the police and their communities. He urged trainees to remain committed to the vision of serving with professionalism and respect.
Mr. Malik Basintale, Chief Executive Officer of YEA, thanked the Ghana Police Service for the partnership and commitment to ensuring the success of the programme. He stressed that this initiative provides a valuable opportunity for young men and women to contribute to public safety in the country.
