Latest Update: Bank of Ghana Releases Official Exchange Rates for Tuesday, September 23, 2025
The Bank of Ghana has released the daily exchange rates for Tuesday, September 23, 2025. These rates represent the average interbank figures used by commercial banks for foreign exchange transactions as of the close of business on Friday, September 19, 2025.
According to the data, the Ghana cedi continues to show a mixed performance against the major international currencies. The US dollar is being bought at Gh¢12.2639 and sold at Gh¢12.2761. This shows that the cedi remains relatively stable against the dollar, with only a narrow margin between the buying and selling prices.
The pound sterling, however, is trading at much higher levels. The buying rate is Gh¢16.5366, while the selling rate stands at Gh¢16.5544. This indicates that businesses and individuals exchanging pounds will need to spend significantly more cedis compared to the dollar.
Similarly, the euro continues to trade above the cedi. The currency is being bought at Gh¢14.4147 and sold at Gh¢14.4290. Although the euro remains expensive, the difference between the buying and selling rate is also small, showing stability in the interbank market.
The Bank of Ghana’s daily rates are a key benchmark for commercial banks and forex traders in setting their own rates for customers. These figures are closely monitored by importers, exporters, and businesses engaged in international transactions. Ordinary citizens also rely on these updates to guide their decisions when sending or receiving money from abroad.
The latest update highlights the ongoing challenges of currency depreciation and exchange rate management in Ghana’s economy. Despite these pressures, the narrow margins between buying and selling prices show that the interbank market remains stable.
