2026 Pay Negotiations Concluded With 9% Salary Increase for Public Sector Workers
The Government of Ghana has successfully concluded negotiations for the 2026 Base Pay under the Single Spine Salary Structure (SSSS), resulting in a 9% salary increase for all public sector workers.
The Fair Wages and Salaries Commission (FWSC) and the Ministry of Finance finalized the negotiations for the 2026 Base Pay, and the agreement was officially signed on November 9, 2025, marking a crucial milestone for workers across various sectors in Ghana.
The agreement stipulates a 9% increase in the base pay, effective from January 2026 to December 2026. This adjustment aims to address the rising cost of living and enhance the economic well-being of employees under the Single Spine Salary Structure.
According to the statement released, the parties involved have committed to ongoing negotiations with unions to discuss other related issues, ensuring that workers’ concerns are continually addressed.
The agreement was reached with consideration of Ghana’s current economic conditions and aims to balance worker welfare with fiscal sustainability. It also acknowledges the importance of understanding the economic environment and its implications for wage negotiations.
The signing parties, including representatives from the Public Services Joint Standing Negotiating Committee (PSJSNC) and the leadership of organized labor, expressed optimism about the new agreement. They emphasized its potential to improve the livelihoods of workers and stimulate economic growth.
