Tricycle Rider Sets Wife And Six Children Ablaze At Breman-Dunkwa

A heartbreaking story has shaken the people of Breman-Dunkwa in the Central Region after a tricycle rider identified as Yaw Afriyie, also known as Batman, reportedly killed his wife and six children in a horrifying fire incident.

According to Crime Check TV's Facebook page post on November 2, 2025, the tragic incident happened around midnight on October 31, 2025. Reports suggest that Afriyie carried out this cruel act after a misunderstanding with his wife.

Eyewitnesses said that on that fateful night, Afriyie asked his wife to go and check on their sleeping children.

As soon as she entered the room, he allegedly poured petrol on her and the children, including one grandchild, before locking the door. Moments later, he set the room on fire, burning all seven family members alive.

The entire community has been left speechless by the incident. Neighbours who tried to help could not get close because of the intense flames that quickly consumed the wooden structure. By the time the fire was under control, nothing could be done to save the victims.

After committing the act, Afriyie reportedly ended his own life by hanging himself. The news has spread rapidly across social media, with many Ghanaians expressing anger, sadness, and shock.

Some questioned what could have caused such a terrible misunderstanding to push a man to destroy his entire family.

Local authorities have begun investigations to understand what led to the tragic event. The police say they are gathering information from relatives and neighbours to piece together the events that happened before the fire.
