Ebo Noah has been Arrested by Ghana Police Over Public Panic set to remain in custody for 3 days
Popular self-styled prophet Ebo Noah has been arrested by the Ghana Police Service and is expected to remain in custody for 72 hours, as bail cannot be granted over the weekend. The arrest comes amid mounting concerns over public panic allegedly caused by the prophet’s recent warnings.
Police officials explained that Ebo Noah’s statements have instilled fear among residents, particularly those living in Europe. “His messages are causing total fear and anxiety, and we had to act to ensure public safety,” a senior police spokesperson said.
Ebo Noah, who is based in Takoradi, has gained attention in recent months for predicting a global flood reminiscent of the biblical story of Noah. The prophet has repeatedly warned that the world will be engulfed by water on December 25, though he has not specified the year. In line with his apocalyptic prophecy, he reportedly built 10 massive arks to accommodate believers, urging people to register in advance to secure their place.
Social media platforms have seen a surge in discussions surrounding the prophet’s warnings. While some followers view him as a genuine messenger, critics have expressed concern over the fear and panic that his messages have caused. Authorities have emphasized that such actions can have real consequences, especially when misinformation spreads widely online.
Human rights advocates have called for careful handling of the situation, stressing the need to balance freedom of speech with public safety. Meanwhile, Ebo Noah’s supporters are reportedly planning to engage legal representation to secure his release once the police complete their investigations.
The police have reassured the public that Ebo Noah’s detention is a preventive measure to maintain order and calm public fears. “We encourage citizens to remain calm and not to give in to unverified claims that may cause unnecessary alarm,” a police official said.
This incident adds to the ongoing debate in Ghana regarding the influence of self-proclaimed prophets and the fine line between spiritual guidance and public endangerment.
As the nation awaits further developments, authorities continue to monitor the situation closely to prevent any potential panic or unrest.
