Gov't imposed Curfew on Nalerigu township and its environs in the North East Region

Government has announced the imposition of curfew on Nalerigu township and its environs in the North East Region.

The curfew, imposed from 5:00 pm to 6:00 am daily, effective Thursday, December 18, 2025, was announced by the Minister for the Interior, Muntaka Mohammed, on the advice of the National Security Council.

As part of the security measures, the government has banned on all persons in the Nalerigu township and its environs from carrying arms, ammunition, or any offensive objects/weapons. Individuals found with any arms or ammunition will be arrested and prosecuted.

The government has also banned the movement of motorbikes, the wearing of smocks, the selling of fuel in containers, and unlawful assembly.

In a statement, the government urged chiefs, elders, opinion leaders, youth, and people of the area to exercise restraint in the face of the challenges confronting them, as well as to use non-violent means to channel their energies into maintaining peace in the area.
