IGP deploys reinforcement team to enforce curfew in Nalerigu following arson attacks (READ MORE...).

In response to escalating tensions and recent arson attacks in Nalerigu, the Inspector-General of Police (IGP) has deployed reinforcement teams and armored vehicles to the area.

This deployment aims to restore calm, protect lives and property, and enforce the government-imposed curfew, according to a press release issued by the Police Public Affairs Unit.

The decision to bolster security measures comes after two houses were set ablaze, raising concerns among residents and prompting swift action from law enforcement.

The police statement emphasized the urgency of addressing the situation and ensuring the safety and security of all citizens.

“The Inspector-General of Police (IGP) has deployed reinforcement teams and armored vehicles to Nalerigu and its environs in the Northeast Region following the setting ablaze of two houses by some youth in the regional capital, Nalerigu, and threats to burn more houses and attack citizens of Nalerigu,” the press release stated.

The deployed teams will also support the Northeast Regional Police Command in intensifying security on the highways to ensure the safety of commuters traveling through the region.

The police have assured the public that investigations into the arson attacks are actively underway, and those responsible will be brought to justice.

The Command would like to assure the general public and the people of Nalerigu in particular that investigations into the attacks and burning of the houses are ongoing, and persons involved will be arrested and brought to justice,” the statement read.

Residents are advised to adhere to the curfew and cooperate with law enforcement officials as they work to restore peace and order in Nalerigu.
