Fire engulfs part of Madina Market (Watch Video...)
A fire outbreak engulfed parts of the Madina Market in Accra, prompting an emergency response from the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) as crews worked to bring the situation under control.
Firefighters have successfully brought under control a fire outbreak involving three shops at Madina Zongo Junction in Accra, following a coordinated response by the Ghana National Fire Service.
According to a Facebook post by the GNFS, the incident occurred on Wednesday, 21 January 2026, affecting shops located on the ground floor of a one-storey commercial building.
An emergency distress call was received at 4:41 p.m., prompting the immediate dispatch of a fire crew from the Madina Fire Station, which arrived at the scene within two minutes, at 4:43 p.m. Firefighters from the Legon Fire Station later joined the operation to reinforce containment efforts.
The cause of the fire remains unknown.
