Interior minister lifts the curfew on Nalerigu township and its environs in the Northeast Region.
The Minister for Interior, Muntaka Mohammed Mubarak, has lifted the curfew on Nalerigu township and its environs in the Northeast Region with immediate effect.
In a press statement signed and released by the Interior Minister Muntaka Mohammed-Mubarak (MP) on Monday, February 16, 2026, it was stated that the curfew was lifted on the advice of the Northeast Regional Security Council and by the executive instrument following peace and security in the area.
“The interior minister, on the advice of the North East Regional Security Council and by executive instrument, has lifted the curfew in Nalerigu Township and its environs in the North East Region with immediate effect, following peace and security in the area,” the statement disclosed.
He further admonished the chiefs, opinion leaders, youth, and people of the area to exercise restraint when faced with challenges to ensure peace and harmony in the area.
“Government continues to urge Chiefs, Opinion Leaders, Youth, and People of the area to exercise restraint in the face of the challenges confronting them and to use non-violent means to channel their energies into ensuring peace in the area,” he advised.
