CLOSAG Strike: We Are Waiting For Finance Ministry To Finalize Payment Arrangements—Labor Minister
The government has assured members of CLOSAG that efforts are underway to resolve the ongoing strike action, with the labour minister emphasizing that the finance ministry is finalizing arrangements for the payment of outstanding arrears.
Speaking on the matter, the minister highlighted that the administration remains committed to addressing the concerns of the striking workers and is actively working to ensure that a timely solution is reached.
According to the Labour Minister, discussions with the Finance Ministry have been progressing, and the finalization of payment modalities is imminent.
He reassured the striking staff that once the payment plans are approved, the government will move swiftly to clear all pending salaries and arrears, which have been a major source of dissatisfaction among CLOGSAG members.
The minister emphasized that the government recognizes the critical role these public sector workers play in the smooth functioning of educational institutions and other government agencies, and it is committed to ensuring their welfare is prioritized.
The minister further called on striking members to exercise patience and allow the ongoing processes to conclude, stressing that dialogue and cooperation between the government and the union are essential for achieving a sustainable resolution.
He also urged both parties to continue engaging constructively to prevent the situation from escalating further, while acknowledging the inconvenience and disruption the strike has caused to public services.
CLOGSAG members have been on strike to demand the payment of arrears and other entitlements, and the Labour Ministry’s intervention signals a step toward ending the industrial action.
The announcement has been met with cautious optimism, with union members and public sector observers awaiting confirmation of the payment schedule from the Finance Ministry.
Overall, the government’s assurances underline its commitment to resolving the dispute and restoring normal operations across affected institutions in the shortest possible time.
