Concerned newly posted GES staff question the whereabouts of the GHS1.1 billion approved by Cabinet for salary arrears.

A group identified as Concerned Newly Posted Staff of the Ghana Education Service (GES) is demanding answers over the status of GHS 1.1 billion reportedly approved by Cabinet in October 2025 for the payment of their salary arrears.

According to an official Instagram page by JoyNews on February 26, 2026, the affected staff say their 10-month salary arrears no longer reflect on their payment vouchers. They claim the arrears had previously appeared on their vouchers but have now been removed without explanation.

The group is questioning what has happened to the approved funds and why the arrears are no longer captured in the payroll system. They argue that many newly posted teachers and staff have endured financial hardship due to delayed salaries and were hopeful that the Cabinet approval would resolve the issue.

The concerned staff are therefore calling on the relevant authorities, including GES management and the Ministry of Finance, to provide clarity on the disbursement process. They want a clear explanation of whether the funds have been released and when payments will be made.

The matter has sparked concern among education sector workers, especially those who depend solely on their monthly salaries. Many say transparency and prompt communication are necessary to restore confidence.

As of now, there has been no official response addressing the specific concerns raised about the disappearance of the arrears from payment vouchers.
