Curfew on Binduri and Its Environs Lifted in the Upper East Region



The Government of Ghana has officially lifted the curfew imposed on Binduri Township and its environs in the Upper East Region. The Interior Ministry announced the revocation of the restrictions following advice from the Upper East Regional Security Council and the issuance of an executive instrument marking the end of the curfew.

The curfew had been in place as part of measures to address escalating security concerns linked to ongoing conflicts in the area, particularly those associated with the wider Bawku conflict and related disturbances that affected peace and normal life in Binduri.

Residents of Binduri and surrounding communities can now move freely without the previously enforced limitations on movement that had restricted travel during specific evening and early morning hours. 

The lifting of the curfew reflects improvements in the security situation and the government’s confidence in the region’s readiness to resume regular activities.

The government has used the opportunity to urge Chiefs, Opinion Leaders, Youth, and People of the area have been urged to continue promoting peace and cohesion to sustain stability in the area.
