Damongo South Circuit Organised a Successful Science and Maths Quiz (See Photos)

The Ghana Education Service in the West Gonja Municipality has successfully organised a Science and Mathematics Quiz Competition for Junior High Schools within the Damongo South Circuit.

The competition took place on Thursday, February 26, 2026, at Kurabaso JHS A. The event was aimed at promoting academic excellence, improving students’ understanding of Science and Mathematics, and enhancing critical thinking and problem-solving skills among learners.

Four schools participated in the competition, which featured challenging general questions, riddles, and problem-solving rounds. After a keenly contested battle, Kurabaso JHS A emerged as the overall winner with 57 points.

Kurabaso JHS B placed second with 32 points, followed by JAFO JHS A with 24 points, while JAFO JHS B secured the fourth position with 21 points.

The event was graced by key education officials, including the Municipal STEM Coordinator, Madam Baba Munira; the Municipal Exams Officer, Mr. Ibrahim Abdul Rahman; the Municipal Girl-Child Coordinator, Madam Jane Bomansang; the SISO for Mole East Circuit, Hon. Mohammed Yakubu; the SISO for Damongo South Circuit, Mr. Zakaria Samed; the Headmistress of Girls Model JHS, Madam Seidu Nyenji Najat; and the Quiz Master, Mr. Iddrisah Nasirdeen of Yabum JHS B.

Speaking at the event, education authorities commended the students for their impressive performance and encouraged schools to continue prioritizing Science and Mathematics education.

Meanwhile, the Primary Level Science and Mathematics Quiz Competition is scheduled to take place on Thursday, March 12, 2026, at Jakpa DA Primary.

The Damongo South Circuit remains committed to promoting quality education and strengthening STEM learning across the municipality.
