NTC Opens Registration Portal for 2026 Ghana Teacher Licensure Examination (GTLE) 1

The National Teaching Council (NTC) of Ghana has officially opened the registration portal for the 2026 Ghana Teacher Licensure Examination (GTLE) 1, marking a significant step for aspiring teachers seeking professional certification in the country’s education sector.

Qualifications 

Prospective teachers who hold a Bachelor of Education degree or a Postgraduate Diploma in Education can now begin the process of registering for the 2026 licensure exams.

Candidates with foreign qualifications are required to obtain a certificate evaluation report from the Ghana Tertiary Education Commission 

IMPORTANT NOTICE

• Before beginning registration, fresh applicants must ensure their details have been uploaded and indexed on the official NTC portal—a prerequisite for successful registration. 

• An indexing fee of GH¢50.00 is payable, but this step is waived for candidates re-sitting papers.

•  Payments for indexing and examination fees can be made at any branch of Prudential Bank Ltd. or via mobile money using the short code 77251# on all networks.

• Candidates with resit (referral) subjects from previous exams can also register on the same portal. Ensure all details are accurate, as changes after submission are not permitted.

• Fresh candidates shall pay four hundred and fifty Ghana Cedis (GHc 450.00) for three papers.

• Candidates re-sitting a paper must pay GHc 150.00. Candidates re-sitting two (2) papers must pay GHc 210.00.

• Candidates re-sitting all three (3) papers must pay GHc 385.00.

Key Details for 2026 GTLE Registration

Registration Date: Monday, February 16, 2026.

Deadline for Registration: Tuesday, March 10, 2026.

Examination Date: Monday, March 23 to Wednesday, March 25, 2026.

Registration Portal: exams.ntc.gov.gh.

Eligibility: Only candidates with a degree in education (B.Ed, PGDE, or M.Ed) are eligible, as per the mandate for a minimum degree qualification.

Indexing Requirements: Prospective candidates must be indexed at indexing.ntc.gov.gh using their index number, which is required for exam registration.

Voucher Cost: Fresh candidates pay GH¢450.00 for three papers.

Registration Process

1. Indexing: Ensure your details are uploaded by your training institution and pay the GH¢50 indexing fee at Prudential Bank or via Mobile Money *772*51#.

2. Verify Status: Log in at indexing.ntc.gov.gh to confirm your details and obtain your index number.

3. Register: Purchase a voucher, then Fill in the required information, including a passport-sized photograph at exams.ntc.gov.gh.

4. Confirmation: Review all information and print the summary of input.
