Gov't to recruit new personnel into the public sector.
The Minister for Finance, Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson, has announced that the government has initiated steps to recruit new personnel into the public sector.
The move comes despite earlier disclosures that authorities secured a GH₵17 billion loan to cover public sector wages in 2025.
Speaking at a Presidential Encounter with Organised Labour on March 17, Dr. Forson explained that the recruitment forms part of a broader agreement with labour unions, aimed at strengthening workforce capacity while honoring government commitments.
He noted that, as part of discussions on the 2026 base pay, government pledged to engage unions on outstanding conditions of service and carry out targeted recruitment within existing budget constraints.
“In line with this, government has commenced processes for the recruitment of staff into the public service,” he stated.
Dr. Forson further revealed that the Fair Wages and Salaries Commission has begun negotiations with Organised Labour on reviewing conditions of service, adding that approvals are expected very soon.
