Controller Issues: 2026 Salary Payment Schedule for Public Sector Workers
The Controller and Accountant-General’s Department has released the official 2026 salary payment schedule for public sector workers across the country.
The notice, signed by Kwasi Agyei, outlines the monthly salary payment dates for civil servants, Ghana Education Service (GES) staff, and other government employees whose salaries are processed through the department.
According to the timetable, salaries for January 2026 will be paid on January 23, while payments for February and March are scheduled for the 26th of each month. April salaries will be paid on April 27, with payments continuing on designated dates throughout the year. December salaries are expected to be paid on December 21.
The Controller and Accountant-General’s Department explained that banks will begin crediting workers’ accounts on the announced dates to ensure consistency and predictability in the public payroll system.
The department also assured workers that any changes to the payment schedule would be officially communicated, stressing its commitment to transparency and efficient salary administration.
The release of the timetable follows ongoing concerns among public sector workers about salary payment delays and timelines. Authorities believe the schedule will help employees better plan their finances throughout the year.
Many workers have welcomed the announcement, commending the department for providing early notice and clarity on salary payments. Others, however, expressed hopes that the actual disbursement of salaries would consistently match the dates outlined in the timetable.
