Ministry of Health releases an update on the payment of nurses' arrears (Check Out...).
The Ministry of Health has issued an update regarding the payment of arrears owed to the 2020 batch of Nurses and Midwives across the country.
In a press release dated May 27, 2026, the Ministry referred to the payment schedule earlier announced by the Ministry of Finance for the settlement of outstanding arrears.
According to the statement, the three months of arrears from 2025, which were scheduled for payment in May 2026, have already been processed and paid. However, the Ministry acknowledged that there have been some isolated cases where certain individuals did not receive the full three months’ arrears as expected.
The Ministry explained that it is currently working closely with the Controller and Accountant-General’s Department to resolve the issue. It assured affected nurses and midwives that the outstanding payments would be made in addition to their scheduled June payments.
The statement further expressed appreciation to nurses and midwives nationwide for their patience, dedication, and continuous service throughout the process.
The Ministry noted that additional updates on the matter will be communicated in due course.
