Another Tragedy: Final-Year Koforidua Sec Tech Student Dies After Leaving Campus Without Permission
A final-year student of Koforidua Senior High Technical School (KSTS), identified as Apassa Isaac, has sadly passed away after reportedly leaving the school campus without authorization, leaving students, teachers, and the wider school community in shock and mourning.
According to reports, Isaac, who was writing the ongoing West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE), completed his English Language paper before allegedly breaking bounds and leaving the school premises without permission.
Sources indicate that he later fell seriously ill and was rushed to a health facility for medical attention. Doctors reportedly diagnosed him with severe malaria. Despite efforts by medical personnel to save his life, he unfortunately passed away.
School sources revealed that Isaac had a history of disciplinary issues, including repeated cases of absenteeism and unauthorized departures from campus. He was reportedly known to the school's disciplinary authorities due to several incidents of truancy.
The sources further disclosed that the school's Disciplinary Committee had on numerous occasions invited Isaac's parents to discuss concerns about his conduct and seek solutions to improve his behavior.
However, the parents allegedly failed to respond to the invitations despite repeated requests from the school administration.
His academic progress was also said to have been affected by his frequent absenteeism. According to school insiders, Isaac initially missed the deadline for WASSCE registration due to issues related to his truancy and was only able to register after a penalty fee was paid.
Meanwhile, his family has reportedly arrived to take custody of his body as preparations for his burial begin.
School authorities are yet to release an official statement on the incident. However, students and staff who knew Isaac have expressed deep sadness over the unfortunate loss of a young life at a crucial stage of his academic journey.
