IGP Deploys Special Operations Support Team to Nkwanta Following Deadly Attacks
The Inspector-General of Police (IGP) has deployed a Special Operations Support Team to Nkwanta in the Oti Region following recent violent attacks that claimed several lives and left many others injured in the municipality.
According to a statement issued by the Oti Regional Public Affairs Unit of the Ghana Police Service on June 20, 2026, the team was dispatched from the National Police Headquarters in Accra to strengthen existing security measures, maintain law and order, and restore peace in the Nkwanta South Municipality.
The Police have called on residents to remain calm, cooperate with security personnel, and volunteer credible information that will support ongoing investigations into the attacks.
“The Ghana Police Service remains committed to protecting lives and property and ensuring lasting peace within the municipality,” the statement assured.
