Police Arrest Suspected Armed Robber and Alleged Accomplice in Bolgatanga
The Upper East Regional Police Command has arrested a suspected armed robber and an alleged accomplice in connection with a robbery attack at Zaare, a suburb of Bolgatanga in the Upper East Region.
The arrests followed an intelligence-led operation conducted by the police. According to preliminary investigations, the main suspect, identified as Jeffrey Alentis, allegedly scaled the wall of a residential property in the early hours of June 16 and entered the room of a female occupant.
Police reports indicate that the suspect, who was allegedly wearing a face mask, sprayed the victim with pepper spray and stole a laptop computer and a Samsung mobile phone. He is also alleged to have forced the victim to disclose her phone password and mobile money PIN before escaping.
Following investigations, police tracked and arrested the suspect at his hideout in Zorbisi, a community within the Bolgatanga Municipality. During interrogation, he reportedly led officers to the arrest of another suspect, Moro Mohammed, who is believed to have been involved in the crime.
The police said all stolen items have been recovered and retained as exhibits to aid ongoing investigations.
The Upper East Regional Police Command has reaffirmed its commitment to fighting crime and ensuring the safety of residents. The Command also appealed to the public to support law enforcement efforts by providing timely information that can help prevent and combat criminal activities.
Both suspects are currently in police custody assisting with investigations, while further inquiries into the matter continue.
