90-Year-Old Accused Of Witchcraft Cries Out Of Pain, Begs For Mercy As 45-Year-Old Man Drags Her To Bushy Area To Assault Her With Rubber Pipe
A disturbing video circulating on social media has sparked outrage after a 90-year-old woman was allegedly assaulted by a 45-year-old man in Navrongo in Ghana’s Upper East Region.
According to reports accompanying the video, the elderly woman was allegedly accused of witchcraft before the man reportedly took her to a secluded, bushy area.
In the footage, the woman is seen lying on the ground while the man allegedly strikes her with what appears to be a rubber pipe. She could be heard crying out in pain, pleading for mercy and calling for help as the alleged assault continued.
The incident has attracted widespread condemnation from social media users, who have called on the appropriate authorities to investigate the matter and ensure that the elderly woman receives protection and justice.
Many have also renewed calls for an end to violence against elderly women based on witchcraft accusations, stressing that such allegations should never be used to justify physical abuse, humiliation or other forms of violence.
