CEO of Nukunu FC, Steve Puro Jr., Supports Savannah Regional Soccer Team Ahead of Quarter-Final Clash
The Savannah Regional Basic Schools Boys’ Soccer Team has received a timely boost from the CEO of Division One side Nukunu FC, Mr. Steve Puro Jnr, ahead of their quarter-final clash at the ongoing 35th National Basic Schools Inter-Regional Sports Competition in Accra.
Renowned football administrator and proud son of the Savannah Region, Mr. Steve Puro Jnr, donated bags of sachet water, bottled water, soft drinks, and a box of Kivo Gari to the team.
The items were presented to the technical team, led by Head Coach Alhassan Rahman Nnyariba, and the playing body at the team’s camp at PRESEC-Legon on Sunday, 30th August 2026.
Mr. Steve Puro Jnr, who hails from the Sawla-Tuna-Kalba District, has demonstrated that he has the Savannah Region at heart and remains ever ready to support and encourage young footballers in the region.
His gesture came at a crucial time as Team Savannah prepared for their quarter-final encounter against Western North Region on Monday, 31st August, at the University of Ghana Sports Oval.
Savannah Region had finished top of Group B after recording impressive 2–0 victories over Ashanti and Western Regions to secure qualification to the quarter-finals.
In the much-anticipated quarter-final clash against Western North Region, Team Savannah put up a determined performance as both sides battled to a 2–2 draw at the end of regulation time.
The match was subsequently decided through a penalty shootout, with Savannah Region emerging victorious by 3–2 on penalties to book their place in the semi-finals.
The young players fought bravely throughout the encounter and held their nerve during the penalty shootout to secure a hard-earned victory. The support from Mr. Puro Jnr served as an added motivation for the team as they continued their impressive campaign in the competition.
Mr. Puro Jnr has considerable experience in football administration, having previously served as CEO of Techiman Eleven Wonders and Wa Power FC. He currently serves as CEO of Nukunu FC.
The Savannah Regional team has expressed its appreciation to Mr. Steve Puro Jnr for his generous support and appealed to other individuals, institutions, and football stakeholders to emulate his gesture and continue supporting the young talents representing the region.
With the quarter-final hurdle successfully cleared, Team Savannah now turns its attention to the semi-finals, with the young players determined to continue their impressive run and make the Savannah Region proud.
