GES Clarifies Automatic Salary Adjustments for Newly Promoted Teachers
The Ghana Education Service (GES) has clarified that teachers who have recently been promoted to new ranks do not need to submit application letters or additional documents to have their salaries adjusted.
In a statement issued by the Public Relations Unit of the GES on Friday, August 22, 2026, management said it had received concerns from some newly promoted teachers who had reportedly been directed to submit application letters, promotion letters and other documents for the processing of their salary adjustments.
According to the GES, teachers who are promoted to new ranks are automatically placed on the appropriate salary scale corresponding to their new ranks. Management emphasized that this existing practice has not changed.
The Service has therefore directed teachers to ignore any request to submit documents for salary adjustments related to their promotions.
The GES further called for calm among teachers and disclosed that it is engaging the few regions and districts allegedly requesting such documents to resolve the matter.
The statement was signed by Daniel Fenyi, Head of Public Relations at the Ghana Education Service.
The GES has consequently reassured newly promoted teachers that their salary adjustments will be handled in accordance with the established procedure.
