The Ghana Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) Service has announced the 2nd Annual National TVET Sports Championships as part of activities marking the 2026 National TVET Week Celebration.
The championships will feature athletics and football under the theme "Resetting Ghana Through TVET—The Sports Perspective.”
According to a notice issued on September 1, 2026 by the Ghana TVET Service and signed by the Director-General, Eric Kofi Adzro, Ph.D., regional teams are expected to arrive in Kumasi on Friday, October 9, 2026, at 2:00 p.m.
The competition will take place from Saturday, October 10, to Tuesday, October 13, 2026, at the Paa Joe Sports Complex, KNUST, Kumasi.
Each regional team is expected to comprise boys’ and girls’ football teams, with the football category involving boys under 18 and girls under 18. The athletics contingent will consist of boys under 20 and girls under 20.
Each region will also be required to provide eight Coaches/Officials, including a chaperone, and two drivers.
The Ghana TVET Service will provide accommodation and feeding for athletes and officials throughout the competition.
The Service further stated that all rules and guidelines governing Technical Institutions Sports Association of Ghana (TISAG) competitions, including team sheets, eligibility, protests, quarter-size photo albums and other requirements, will apply alongside International Amateur Athletics Federation (IAAF) rules.
Regional Directors have been urged to prepare their teams adequately for the championship, which the organisers say will attract important dignitaries.
Team sheets and photo albums are expected to be submitted to the organisers upon arrival, with the relevant documents duly signed by Regional Directors and Regional PE & Sports Coordinators.
The participating teams are expected to depart Kumasi on Wednesday, October 14, 2026, with the competition aimed at promoting sports and strengthening the role of TVET in Ghana’s development.
