Greater Accra Hosts 2026 TVET Super Zonal Sports Festival (See Photos and Results)

The Greater Accra Technical Institutes Sports Association (GATISA) has successfully organised the fifth edition of the 2026 Super Zonal Games and Athletics Championship at the Borteyman Sports Complex.

Gatisa Super Zonal Competitions Held at Borteyman Sports Complex

The Gatisa Super Zonal Competitions were held from 23rd to 24th July 2026 at the Borteyman Sports Complex in Accra.

The two-day sporting event (Competition) brought together students, athletes, and football teams to compete across various sporting activities, coaches, and officials from Technical Institutes across the Greater Accra Region

The competition was supported by Evarplas Beverages and FanMilk Ghana, whose contribution helped make the event possible.

Purpose of the Festival

The festival was organised to promote physical fitness, discipline, teamwork, sportsmanship, and peaceful coexistence among students while providing a platform for young athletes to showcase their talents.

The championship also offered an opportunity to identify emerging sporting talents in line with the objectives of the Ghana TVET Service.

SOCCER RESULTS

In the soccer competition, Zone 1 emerged as champions in the Boys’ Soccer category, while Zone 2 claimed the championship in the Girls’ Soccer category.

Accra Technical Training Centre (ATTC) — 2nd Place

Ada Technical Institute — 3rd Place

New Century Career Training Institute — 4th Place

Sacred Heart Technical Institute — 5th Place

GIRLS’ ATHLETICS RESULTS

Tema Technical Institute — 1st Place

Accra Technical Training Centre (ATTC) — 2nd Place

Ada Technical Institute — 3rd Place

Kanda Technical Institute — 4th Place

Opportunity Industrialization Technical Institute (OITI) — 5th Place

Overall Highlight

Tema Technical Institute emerged as the top-performing school in both the boys’ and girls’ athletics competitions, securing 1st place in both categories.

The athletics competition, which featured a number of track and field events, was keenly contested, with participants displaying impressive levels of skill, determination, discipline, and sportsmanship.

The successful organisation of the championship further highlights the important role of sports in technical and vocational education, particularly in developing teamwork, leadership, discipline, and healthy competition among students.

GATISA has congratulated all participating institutions, athletes, coaches, officials, and organisers for their contributions towards the success of the 2026 TVET Super Zonal Sports Festival.

The association also reaffirmed the importance of promoting fair play, unity, excellence, and positive relationships through sports within the TVET community.
