The Upper East Regional Police Command, in collaboration with the Military, has conducted an intelligence-led security operation in the Binduri District following a series of recent shooting incidents and other firearm-related offences.
During the operation, one of the suspects, identified as 32-year-old Isaka Sabani, alias "Culture", sustained gunshot wounds and later died.
Security personnel retrieved one AK-47 assault rifle loaded with 28 rounds of ammunition from the deceased suspect.
Preliminary investigations indicate that Sabani was wanted in connection with an attempted murder and unlawful discharge of firearms case reported at the Bawku Police Station on August 28, 2026.
He was also suspected of involvement in a series of shooting incidents reported at Agenda 111, Aniisi and Gumyoko in the Binduri District on August 29, 30 and 31, respectively.
The Upper East Regional Police Command says it will continue working closely with other security agencies and stakeholders to apprehend other suspected perpetrators and bring them to justice.
The Command has further reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining security, law and order across the Upper East Region
