Greater Accra TVET Team Escapes Unhurt After Bus Accident at Ejisu-Hwereso (See Photos)

A bus transporting athletes of the Greater Accra Region from the 2nd Annual National TVET Sports Championship in Kumasi was involved in an accident around the Ejisu-Hwereso area on Wednesday, October 14, 2026.

The incident occurred while the team was travelling from Kumasi to Accra following the conclusion of the championship, which was held from October 10 to 13, 2026. The event officially ended on Tuesday, October 13, 2026.

The incident occurred at approximately 10:00 a.m. around the Ejisu-Hwereso area in the Ashanti Region.

The vehicle, a white school bus with registration number GV 459-14, departed the team's accommodation early Wednesday morning with athletes on board as they made their way back to Accra.

According to an eyewitness, Charity Brew Pyne, an athlete representing the Greater Accra Region who was also travelling on the bus, the accident occurred after one of the bus's tyres burst.

She explained that the driver made every possible effort to maintain control of the vehicle and bring it under control, helping to prevent a potentially serious situation.

Fortunately, no injuries were recorded, and all occupants reportedly escaped unharmed.

The incident serves as a reminder of the importance of vehicle maintenance and road safety, particularly when transporting athletes and other passengers over long distances.

The Greater Accra Region team had been returning home after participating in the four-day national sports championship in Kumasi.

Ghana Media Trend will continue to provide updates as more information becomes available.
