Tragic Accident: Mother and a Child Fall from Pokuase Interchange Overpass (Watch Video)
A tragic road accident occurred at the Pokuase Interchange in Accra, where a mother and her child were seriously injured after their car fell from the top of the overpass to the road below.
This sad incident occurred on Sunday,18th May, 2025.
The incident occurred when the woman, who was driving a white private car, is believed to have lost control of the vehicle while driving on the upper level of the interchange. The car crashed through the edge barrier and dropped straight from the top onto the lower road, landing on its side.
People nearby quickly rushed to the scene to help. In videos dicpicted by eyewitnesses, several individuals were seen turning the car upright and rescuing the injured mother and child. Both victims were trapped inside the badly damaged vehicle before they were pulled out by the crowd.
The mother and child were seriously hurt and in great pain. Arrangements were made to send them to the nearest hospital for urgent medical treatment.
Their names have not yet been released, and the full details of what caused the accident remain unclear.
Traffic in the area was heavily affected, as many drivers and pedestrians gathered around the scene. Some people stopped to assist, while others watched with shock and concern.
This sad incident has raised serious concerns about safety on interchanges and flyovers. Many are calling for more caution when driving on such high structures and better barriers to prevent vehicles from falling in case of accidents.
