Upper West Region: Several Areas in Wa, Tumu Affected by Heavy Downpour—See photos.
Wa Metropolis and Sissala East Some residents have been set aback by Sunday’s heavy downpour that lasted till Monday, July 28 2025.
A heavy downpour that started around 9pm on Sunday, July 27, 2025, continued till dawn, 2pm on Monday.
Several areas in Wa, including Kpaguri, Kambali, Mangu, and Duori, were affected by the downpour, with some homes flooded. Residents of Zingu, a community that is about 10 km from Wa Township, weren’t spared after a bridge linking the community to Wa Township was washed away.
Assembly members of the areas were at the affected areas with the National Disaster Management Organization (NADMO) to assess the situation and to find lasting solutions to the problem.
Mayor of Wa, Alhaj Nurah Danwana, was at some of the flooded areas, including Kambali, to sympathize with the affected families.
“Today, together with my coordinating director, my technical staff, feeder road and urban road engineers, and contractors of some of the road projects, we revisited the affected areas of the rainstorm disaster.
We are currently putting up plans to solve the problem.”
Meanwhile, in Sissala East Municipality, also about 134 km northeast of Wa Metropolis,
Kassana and other major farming communities in Sissala East were cut off from Tumu after heavy rains.
The state of Kassana roads in the Sissala East Municipality after rainfall left thousands, especially farmers and community members, stranded. Hon. MCE Adamu Yakubu went with 107.5 FM to assess the situation of the affected bridges.
The MCE, Hon. Adamu Yakubu, assured of swift measures to fix the Kassana Road and bridge.
