Fire outbreak destroys two-storey apartment at Lakeside Estate.
A fire outbreak swept through parts of a two-storey apartment building near Divine International School at Lakeside Estate in Accra, and residents were thrown into panic.
According to the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS), the blaze broke out around 3:50 p.m.
Crews from the Adenta Fire Station arrived at the scene within minutes to find thick smoke and flames consuming the upper floor of the six-bedroom structure.
Officials stated that a reinforcement team from the Madina Fire Station was quickly deployed due to the fast-spreading nature of the fire.
Firefighters managed to contain the blaze to the top floor, preventing it from spreading to the ground floor and adjoining houses.
The fire, which was finally extinguished at about 5:25 p.m., left one bedroom extensively damaged. No casualties were recorded.
GNFS Investigators later indicated that the incident was likely caused by a faulty electrical socket.
