2025 Damba Festival at Bawku suspended by court injunction in the Upper East Region

The Upper East Regional Security Council (REGSEC) has revealed that the Bolgatanga District Court has imposed a ban on the organisation and celebration of the 2025 Damba Festival in Bawku.
In a ruling delivered on Thursday, September 25, 2025, the court barred the president and members of the 2025 Damba Planning Committee from undertaking any activities related to the festival.
REGSEC highlighted that the measure is aimed at safeguarding peace and security in Bawku and surrounding areas, which have recently experienced heightened tensions.
The prohibition will remain in effect until further notice.
