The Ghana Police Service has arrested a 42-year-old man in connection with the robbery and murder of a police officer in Zebilla, Upper East Region.
In a press release issued on February 14, 2026, Chief Inspector Brigitte Babanawo, Public Relations Officer of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID), said the suspect, Simon Apusiga, also known as Ananga, was apprehended on February 10, following an intelligence-led operation at his hideout in the Tarkwa Huni Valley area.
Preliminary investigations, according to the police, indicate that Apusiga fled Zebilla shortly after the incident on February 8, 2026, and was subsequently traced to the Western Region.
The suspect is currently in police custody, assisting with investigations.
The police indicated that the suspect will be arraigned in court to face the full rigors of the law, while efforts continue to apprehend other suspects involved in the case.
The arrest follows a special operation deployed by the Inspector-General of Police, Mr. Christian Tetteh Yohuno, aimed at bringing those responsible for the killing of the police officer to justice.
The CID has assured the public that investigations are ongoing and that all individuals involved will be held accountable.
