Black Stars Coach Otto Addo Dismissed by GFA
The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has parted ways with Black Stars head coach Otto Addo following a run of disappointing performances in recent international friendlies.
The decision comes on the back of consecutive defeats to Austria and Germany, extending the team’s losing streak to four matches.
Addo’s dismissal comes at a crucial moment, as Ghana gears up for the 2026 FIFA World Cup to be hosted by the United States, Canada, and Mexico. The Black Stars have been drawn in a challenging group alongside Panama, England, and Croatia.
Meanwhile, Minister for Sports and Recreation Kofi Iddie Adams has admitted that Ghana is not yet fully prepared for the tournament but assured that steps are being taken to improve readiness.
Speaking on The Point of View on Channel On TV, the minister explained that preparations extend beyond on-field performance to include broader national promotional efforts.

He disclosed that the government has set aside approximately $30 million for Ghana’s World Cup campaign. The budget will cover key areas such as accommodation, training, feeding, player bonuses, and promotional activities aimed at projecting Ghana on the global stage.
The Ghana Football Association is expected to announce either an interim technical team or a new head coach in the coming days as preparations for the tournament intensify.
