Condom Shortage Hits Kwahu Obomeng as Health Officials Ramp Up STI Prevention campaign

A shortage of condoms has been reported in Kwahu Obomeng during this year’s Easter festivities, as health authorities intensify campaigns to curb the spread of HIV/AIDS among revelers.

The annual Kwahu celebrations have drawn large crowds, significantly increasing demand for condoms and leading to temporary supply gaps in parts of the town.

In response, medical officials have stepped up public health education, urging individuals to practice safe sex. Revellers are being encouraged to carry condoms and personal first aid kits stocked with essentials, including condoms—particularly for those who may feel uncomfortable purchasing them openly.

“We are advising everyone to protect themselves. If buying condoms publicly is a challenge, they can be kept in personal first aid kits. The aim is to reduce the risk of HIV and other sexually transmitted infections,” a health official explained.

Health teams deployed across the area are also distributing free condoms and providing voluntary HIV testing services as part of efforts to ensure a safe and responsible festive period.
