GES Launches Nationwide Campaign Against Examination Malpractice for 2026
The integrity of Ghana’s education system is once again in sharp focus as the Ghana Education Service (GES) intensifies efforts to curb examination malpractice across the country.
Academic dishonesty remains a major challenge, threatening the credibility of national certificates and eroding public trust in student performance. In response, GES has rolled out a high-priority nationwide sensitization campaign aimed at ensuring a transparent, fair, and credible 2026 examination season.
In an official directive from its headquarters in Accra, GES outlined a comprehensive strategy to confront examination malpractice head-on. The campaign seeks to educate stakeholders on examination regulations while highlighting the serious consequences of violations.
Key Campaign Highlights
- Dates: Tuesday, 28th April to Friday, 1st May 2026
- Coverage: All sixteen regions of Ghana
- Collaboration: Close partnership with the West African Examinations Council (WAEC) to ensure alignment with official examination standards
A Collective Responsibility
The campaign adopts a holistic approach, targeting all key players within the education ecosystem through stakeholder engagements and media outreach. These include:
- Students: Candidates preparing for the 2026 BECE and WASSCE
- School Leadership: Heads of schools and administrators
- Educators: Teachers responsible for preparation and invigilation
- Parents and Guardians: Encouraged to support honest academic efforts and discourage malpractice
Core Objectives
- Raise awareness about the legal and academic consequences of examination malpractice.
- Promote strict adherence to examination rules and regulations.
- Protect the global reputation of Ghanaian academic qualifications.
- Ensure active participation through coordination with regional directors.
According to Prince Charles Agyemang-Duah, the initiative is crucial to safeguarding the credibility of Ghana’s education system.
