Ministry of Health Announces Phase One of Nationwide Recruitment for Health Professionals

The Ministry of Health has officially announced the commencement of the first phase of a nationwide recruitment exercise for health professionals, effective April 16, 2026, following the approval of financial clearance.

In this initial phase, the Ministry plans to recruit a total of 31,800 health professionals across key categories to strengthen healthcare delivery nationwide. The breakdown is as follows:

  • 15,000 Nurses
  • 10,000 Allied Health Professionals
  • 6,000 Pharmacists and Pharmacy Technicians
  • 800 Physician Assistants

According to the Ministry, the recruitment process will be decentralized, with hiring conducted at the district level based on verified vacancies. This approach is aimed at ensuring a more equitable distribution of healthcare personnel across the country.

The exercise will be competitive and transparent, guided by an approved quota system that reflects the needs of various cadres and year groups. All recruitments will be carried out within approved budgetary limits and in line with established civil service protocols.

Qualified health professionals are advised to regularly monitor official communication channels of the Ministry and district health administrations for specific vacancy announcements and detailed application guidelines.

Prospective applicants are also encouraged to prepare all necessary documentation and credentials ahead of the recruitment rollout to facilitate a smooth and efficient application process.
