Nkwanta Conflict: Four Houses Set Ablaze in Keri

Four houses have been destroyed by fire in Keri, a farming community in the Nkwanta South Municipality of the Oti Region, amid the area’s ongoing conflict.

The latest incident has further escalated tensions, raising concerns about security in the community.

According to reports, a 25-year-old food vendor, Richmond Benye, was shot and killed on Saturday.

In a related development, another resident, 25-year-old Bright Nkpah, sustained gunshot wounds on Monday, May 4, while returning home. He is currently receiving medical treatment.

In response to the rising violence, security agencies have intensified efforts to restore order.

A joint team of military and police personnel has been deployed to Keri and nearby communities to maintain peace and prevent further attacks.

The Ghana National Fire Service responded promptly to the scene, successfully containing the fire and minimising property damage.

Although the situation remains tense, calm is gradually returning as security patrols continue. Authorities have since launched investigations into both the arson and the shooting incidents.
