Over 61,000 candidates to sit for 2026 TVET exams as CTVET tightens anti-cheating measures—Director-General of CTVET
The Commission for Technical and Vocational Education and Training (CTVET) on Wednesday, May 13, 2026, held a press conference to brief the media on preparations for the 2026 May/June Certificate II Examinations and other traditional TVET examinations.
The Director-General of CTVET, Mr. Zakaria Sulemana, addressed journalists on measures being implemented to ensure a credible and transparent examination process.
Also in attendance were the Deputy Director-General for Corporate Services, Mr. Abdul-Rahman Zakaria, and the Deputy Director-General for Technical Services, Mr. Anthony Kwame Zu.
At the briefing, CTVET announced that 61,506 candidates across Ghana will participate in this year’s examinations, which begin on Monday, May 18, and end on Friday, June 12, 2026.
Out of the total number, 59,754 candidates will sit for the Certificate II examinations while 1,752 candidates will write other traditional TVET examinations. The Commission said the figures represent an 8.06 percent increase over last year’s candidature for the Certificate II examinations.

The Director-General said the increasing number of candidates demonstrates rising public confidence in Technical and Vocational Education and Training as Ghana continues to prioritise skills development and workforce readiness.
One of the major reforms highlighted during the briefing was the continued implementation of “Test Serialization,” a system that generates multiple versions of examination papers to minimise cheating opportunities and strengthen public confidence in the examinations.
According to CTVET, six separate series of each serialized paper will be used this year, although all candidates will be assessed using the same standards and marking schemes.
“The integrity and credibility of these examinations remain paramount to the reputation of Ghana’s TVET system,” Mr. Sulemana stressed.
The Commission also announced that this year’s examinations will mark the maiden harmonised examination for TVET institutions formerly operating under different examination structures including NVTI, TEU and NABPTEX.
CTVET further urged candidates to avoid leaked examination questions circulating on social media and cautioned supervisors, invigilators and security personnel against any form of negligence or misconduct during the examination period.
