Ministry of Health Extends Deadline for Nurses and Allied Health Professionals: Check Out Date.
The Ministry of Health has extended the deadline for nurses and other allied health professionals recently recruited and posted to various districts to report to their assigned places of work.
In a statement issued on Monday, August 24, 2026, the Ministry announced that the new deadline for affected professionals to report is August 31, 2026. The Ministry described the extension as the final notice to all professionals concerned.
According to the Ministry, professionals who have applied, completed the required interviews and screening, and reported to their assigned facilities are already undergoing the necessary processes for mechanisation, with some having started receiving their salaries.
Recruitment and Salary Process Clarified
The Ministry also clarified the procedures involved in the recruitment, posting and payment of salaries, following the circulation of what it described as misleading information.
The established process begins with the Ministry of Health receiving financial clearance from the Ministry of Finance. The recruitment portal is then opened for eligible applicants, who apply for postings to their preferred districts.
Successful applicants undergo interviews in their respective districts and, upon selection, accept postings to their assigned facilities. The facilities subsequently confirm their assumption of duty and submit the required documentation to the Ghana Health Service (GHS), Christian Health Association of Ghana (CHAG), and other relevant agencies.
An appointment letter is then generated to enable the applicant to complete the necessary procedures for salary input. Once the salary input process is completed, the worker's salary is validated by the facility and paid through the Controller and Accountant-General’s Department (CAGD).
The Ministry stressed that every recruited professional must complete the required processes before salary payments can be effected, noting that the procedures are necessary to ensure that legitimate workers are paid and to prevent payments for work not done or the creation of ghost names.
September Data Entry Window
The Ministry has directed Human Resource Directors and other relevant officers to expedite the processes for eligible professionals who have reported for duty.
Directors and Managers have also been instructed to use the September data entry window to mechanise professionals who have already assumed duty.
However, professionals who fail to report by the August 31 deadline without an approved and justifiable reason will have their names removed from the recruitment and posting system. Such individuals will instead be considered through a mop-up exercise scheduled for the first week of September.
The Ministry has therefore urged all affected nurses and allied health professionals to take advantage of the final extension and report to their assigned facilities within the stipulated period.
