NTC Releases Official Timetable for September 2026 GTLE—Check Full Schedule
The National Teaching Council (NTC) has officially released the timetable for the September 2026 Ghana Teacher Licensure Examination (GTLE), providing candidates with details of the dates and papers for the upcoming examination.
The release of the timetable is expected to bring clarity to thousands of teacher trainees, College of Education graduates and university graduates who are preparing to sit for the examination.
The September 2026 GTLE will be conducted over three days, beginning on Monday, 14th September 2026, and ending on Wednesday, 16th September 2026.
Full Breakdown of the September 2026 GTLE Timetable
Day 1 — Monday, 14th September 2026
General Professional Knowledge
The first paper is General Professional Knowledge, which is compulsory for candidates.
The paper covers areas including educational psychology, the history and philosophy of education, professional values and ethics, and classroom management.
Candidates are encouraged to revise the relevant professional standards and materials ahead of the examination.
Day 2 — Tuesday, 15th September 2026
Related Pedagogy
The second paper is Related Pedagogy, which assesses candidates’ knowledge and understanding of teaching methods appropriate to their respective levels.
Candidates will write the pedagogy paper related to their area of training, including Early Childhood, Primary or JHS Pedagogy.
Key areas may include child development, teaching methods, lesson planning and assessment techniques.
Day 3 — Wednesday, 16th September 2026
Subject Specialization
The final paper is Subject Specialization or Area of Specialization.
Candidates will write papers related to their major subject areas, which may include Mathematics, English, Science, Social Studies, Early Childhood Education, French and other specialized areas.
The paper is designed to assess candidates’ knowledge and understanding of the content of their respective subject areas.
Important Instructions for Candidates
Candidates are advised to take note of all examination requirements and make adequate preparations before the examination.
They should ensure that they have their index numbers and examination centres confirmed ahead of the examination date.
Candidates are also encouraged to report to their examination centres early to avoid delays and possible difficulties on examination day.
They should equally carry a valid identification document as required by the NTC.
Candidates must also comply with the examination rules concerning mobile phones, smart watches and other electronic devices. Such items may not be permitted in the examination hall.
How to Prepare for the September 2026 GTLE
Candidates are encouraged to begin or intensify their preparations ahead of the examination.
Studying previous examination questions, revising course materials, and practicing under examination conditions can help candidates improve their preparedness.
