Newly Update: Bank Of Ghana Releases Exchange Rates For Monday, September 15, 2025
The Bank of Ghana has released the official foreign exchange rates for Monday, September 15, 2025. These rates are the average interbank figures that commercial banks used for transactions as of the close of business on Friday, September 12, 2025. They help businesses, traders, and the public know the buying and selling values of major international currencies.
For the US Dollar (USD), the buying rate is GH¢12.1439, while the selling rate is GH¢12.1561. This means banks will purchase one US dollar from customers at GH¢12.1439 and sell it at GH¢12.1561. The slight difference between the buying and selling price is called the “spread,” and it allows banks to cover transaction costs and make a small profit.
The British Pound Sterling (GBP) is valued higher. The buying rate is GH¢16.4453, and the selling rate is GH¢16.4630. The pound continues to be one of the strongest currencies against the Ghanaian cedi, which is important for importers, exporters, and people sending or receiving money from the United Kingdom.
For the Euro (EUR), the buying rate is GH¢14.2236, and the selling rate is GH¢14.2364. Many businesses that trade with European countries closely monitor the euro’s performance because it affects the cost of goods and services.
These rates serve as a guide for businesses, importers, exporters, and individuals who need foreign currency for trade, travel, or other international transactions. They also help to provide stability in the market by setting an official benchmark for commercial banks to follow.
The Bank of Ghana issues these daily exchange rates to ensure transparency and to help Ghanaians understand the value of their local currency in comparison with major foreign currencies. By monitoring these rates, businesses and travelers can make informed decisions about when to buy or sell foreign currency.
The release emphasizes the central bank’s role in maintaining confidence in Ghana’s financial system and ensuring smooth operations in foreign exchange markets across the country.
