Upper East Region: Education Minister, Haruna Iddrisu Arrives In Zebilla Senior High School To Monitor Ongoing WASSCE
Minister of Education, Haruna Iddrisu, has paid a working visit to Zebilla Senior High School in the Upper East Region to monitor the ongoing West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE).
His visit formed part of his tour of schools in the Bawku enclave to assess the conduct of the exams, ensure compliance with examination regulations, and offer moral support to candidates.
During his visit, the Minister interacted with school authorities, invigilators, and some of the final-year students writing the examination. He commended the candidates for their dedication and encouraged them to remain focused and disciplined throughout the exam period.
Mr. Iddrisu stressed that the government is committed to ensuring that this year’s WASSCE is conducted under the highest standards of credibility, free from malpractice or irregularities that could undermine the integrity of Ghana’s education system.
The Education Minister also inspected the school’s facilities and engaged with teachers on challenges affecting teaching and learning.
He assured them that the government is working to improve infrastructure, provide adequate teaching materials, and enhance security in schools across the Bawku enclave, which has in recent times faced tensions affecting education.
School authorities expressed their appreciation for the Minister’s visit, noting that it was a morale booster for both staff and students. Many parents and education stakeholders in the region have lauded the government’s efforts to prioritize education even in areas affected by conflict.
The visit is expected to continue to other schools in the area as part of the Minister’s broader plan to monitor WASSCE activities and ensure fairness and smooth conduct of the examinations nationwide.
