Stonebwoy and Shatta Wale Rally Support for Black Stars’ 2026 World Cup Campaign
Dancehall heavyweights Stonebwoy and Shatta Wale have stepped forward in strong support of the Ghana national football team, making significant financial contributions toward the country’s preparations for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
The fundraising gala, held on Friday, March 20, at the Kempinski Hotel Gold Coast City, brought together key stakeholders, including former President John Dramani Mahama.
During the event, Stonebwoy pledged $81,000 in cash, along with an additional $20,000 worth of music services, bringing his total contribution to $101,000.
Shatta Wale also made a bold commitment, announcing a $100,000 donation on behalf of his team, while highlighting the growing collaboration between private entities and government in backing the national team.
Corporate support has also played a major role in the campaign. Engineers & Planners, the mining firm owned by Ibrahim Mahama, led contributions with a $5 million pledge. Gold Fields
followed by a $2 million commitment, alongside an additional $1 million earmarked for next year.
In total, the government is targeting $30 million to strengthen Ghana’s World Cup campaign and boost the Black Stars’ chances on the global stage.
