GTEC Releases List of 62 Unaccredited Institutions, Warns Public
The Ghana Tertiary Education Commission (GTEC) has released a list of 62 unaccredited universities and institutions, cautioning the public to exercise vigilance when engaging with them.
In a public notice dated April 17, 2026, GTEC explained that the affected institutions have not received accreditation due to various quality assurance concerns, rendering their operations unrecognised.
The Commission advised students, parents, and employers to always verify the accreditation status of institutions before enrolling or accepting academic certificates.
GTEC further warned that degrees and certificates issued by these institutions may not be recognised in Ghana, potentially affecting academic and professional prospects.
The list features a mix of local and foreign institutions, including universities, colleges, and theological schools.
